The choir of military priests "Sacerdotes Militares", the first formation of this kind in the Romanian Patriarchate, was established. The ensemble promotes unity and communion in pastoral ministry through church singing.

The establishment of the choir took place in the context of the establishment of Military Clergy Day, celebrated annually on October 26, in commemoration of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius, the Fountain of Peace. The decision was adopted by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the meeting of July 1-2, 2025.

In a statement for the BASILICA News Agency, father Ciprian Ioniță, patriarchal adviser at the Social-Philanthropic Sector of the Romanian Patriarchate, stated that the ensemble was established in April 2026 and initially brought together 24 military priests from the structures of the Ministry of National Defense.

Later, the selection was extended to other militarized structures, with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Penitentiary Administration. Thus, the ensemble was joined by four penitentiary chaplains.
