I also read about the second Athos in our country, but I wonder if those monasteries really ended up living as harshly as on Mount Athos. Anyway, July 7 is the day of Saint John the Baptist, important for many.

Here in Poltava, July 7 is always celebrated in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist, and after the liturgy, people bring grass and poppies home. I read about the "second Athos" in Ukraine, but the monasteries I saw in the photo really look much simpler and not as strict as on Athos. У нас на парафії теж завжди служимо на Різдво Івана Предтечі 7 липня, а після літургії люди забирають із собою освячену траву й мак. Про “другий Афон” в Україні читав, але ті монастирі в Карпатах чи на Волині, які бачив на фото, справді виглядають набагато простішими, ніж ті на Святій Горі. Цікаво, чи хтось із вас бував там і як воно насправді.
