Holy Righteous John of Kronstadt: from the Teaching on the Transfiguration of the Lord

“The Holy Church now celebrates—and we celebrate with it—the bright feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord on Mount Tabor and the glorification of our human nature in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. I will repeat in Russian the Gospel or Matthew’s all-joyful good news about the present day, telling about the event of transfiguration. - “At that time, Jesus took Peter, James and John his brother, and led them up to a high mountain alone. And He was transfigured before them: and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became white as light. And then Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. At this Peter said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here; If you want, we will make three tabernacles here. One for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said: This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; Listen to him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were very afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said: Arise, and do not be afraid. Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus alone.

And when they came down from the mountain, Jesus rebuked them, saying: Tell no one...
