The Comana Monastery in Giurgiu County is commemorating 550 years since the death of Ruler Vlad Țepeș, the founder of the holy settlement, by organizing a graphic exhibition dedicated to his personality and the era in which he lived.

The artist Yulya Kravets exhibits in the monastery museum a series of pencil drawings depicting moments from the life of the great voivode. The young artist, originally from Belarus, is passionate about medieval history and came to Romania for the first time for the opening of the exhibition.

Ruler Vlad Țepeș is known "for his judicial spirit, which has remained legendary to this day", recalled Arhim. Mihail Muscariu, the abbot of the monastery. Father Abbot declared himself impressed by the fact that, at a time when the world no longer seems interested in national history, this initiative came from outside the country.

The pilgrim house will bear the name of the ruler Photo: Facebook / Diocese of Giurgiului "Our monastery is planning to build a pilgrim's house under the name of the voivode, and I am sure that, in the not too distant future, all these drawings will find their rightful place on its walls," announced the abbot from Comana.

Interestingly, a young Belarusian drew moments from the life of Vlad Tepes with a pencil. It is good that the Komana monastery is making such an exhibition precisely for the 550th anniversary, and not only to talk about its fair spirit. I like the idea of the pilgrim house with his name, hope they build it soon.

Yes, I was impressed with these drawings too - they are accurate, no frills. It's good that it's not just stories about his justice, but there is also a specific exhibition just for the anniversary. I wonder if Yaulya will do something for the monastery itself, since she came all the way from Belarus.

It's good that that young Belarusian woman came right now with pencils and drew specific moments from the life of the duke, and not just talking about justice. I love that the pilgrim house will bear his name, I hope the drawings actually end up on the walls. I wonder if Yulya will draw the monastery church itself while he is there.

It's good that a young woman from Belarus came just now with a pencil and drew concrete moments from the life of Vlad Tepeș, not just words about his vigilante spirit. I liked the idea of the pilgrim house to be named after him – I hope it will be finished soon and the drawings will be on the walls. Did Yulya stay at Comana after the opening?

Good thing Yulya Kravets came over from Belarus and did these specific pencil sketches instead of just talking about Vlad's righteous spirit. I liked that the abbot said that they will enter the new wing of pilgrims with his name. I hope the project will proceed quickly.

Yes, I also got the impression that Yulya really read the documents well, not just copied familiar scenes. I hope she finishes the pilgrim house soon, the bare walls are waiting for some drawings like hers. Do you have any idea if he has drawn other Romanian figures before?

I agree, it's really nice that she specifically drew moments from life, and not just general stories. I hope that they will also draw the monastery church, it would look nice in the house for pilgrims. Have you seen some of those drawings on Facebook?
