On October 30, the Church honors the memory of the holy unmercenary martyrs Cosmas and Damian of Arabiatranslated

The memory of the unmercenary martyrs Cosmas and Damian of Arabia and the brothers of their martyrs Leontius, Anthimus and Eutropius (+ 287 or 303) is celebrated by the Orthodox Church on October 30.
The holy brothers were born in Arabia and there they learned the art of medicine. For their faith and sincere service to people, they were also awarded the gift of healing from God.
The holy brothers suffered martyrdom during the reign of the emperors Diocletian and Maximian (late 3rd century). According to Church Tradition, having heard about the miracles that Cosmas and Damian performed, the local hegemon (ruler) Lysias ordered them to be brought to him.
Having learned that the brothers were healing people in the name of Jesus Christ, Lysias ordered them to sacrifice to idols, which they refused to do.
Then, by order of the hegemon, the brothers were subjected to numerous tortures, they tried to execute them several times in various ways, but nothing worked - the Lord kept His righteous to intimidate the pagans. As a result, Saints Cosmas and Damian were beheaded by the sword, along with three other Christians: Leontius, Anthimus and Eutropius.
Saints Cosmas and Damian of Arabia are the full namesakes of other famous holy healers - Cosmas and Damian of Asia, whose memory is celebrated on the 14th...
