On October 3-7, an ark with part of the belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be brought to the Simbirsk diocesetranslated

With the blessing of Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky, from October 3 to 7, in the Cathedral of the Ascension of the Savior of the Simbirsk Diocese there will be an ark with a part of the Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the Kazan Cathedral of St. Petersburg.

The solemn meeting of the shrine will take place at the end of the Divine Liturgy on October 3 at the Spaso-Voznesensky Cathedral of Ulyanovsk (Ulyanovskaya St., 2).

On October 3-7, during the stay of the ark with a piece of the Belt of the Virgin Mary in the Simbirsk diocese, it will be possible to venerate the shrine from 7.00 to 20.00.

Every day at 13.00 and 15.00 (October 5 - additionally at 19.00) a prayer service with an akathist to the Mother of God will be held in the cathedral.

The Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the greatest shrines associated with the life of the Mother of God. According to legend, She Herself wove it from camel hair and wore it until Her Dormition. Since the 4th century, the shrine was located in Constantinople, in the Blachernae Church. In the 10th century, the Belt was divided into parts, one of which is currently kept on Mount Athos, in the Vatopedi monastery.

In 2011, the bringing of the Belt to Russia was organized. Then more than 3 million 100 thousand people worshiped the shrine.
