3,500 people celebrated the Day of the Romanian Language through the Great National Dictatorship, in the Republic of Moldovatranslated

Approximately 3,500 people from the Republic of Moldova participated, on Romanian Language Day, in the Great National Dictation, held simultaneously in Chisinau and in at least 16 districts. The initiative brought together students, teachers, parents, grandparents and lovers of the Romanian language, in an effort dedicated to the cultivation of the language and the affirmation of national identity.

The participants transcribed a fragment from the work of the late actor, playwright and humorist Gheorghe Urschi. The demonstration was organized by the Ministry of Education and Research, under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, and took place in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, as well as in other localities in the country.

In the messages addressed to the participants, the officials recalled that the return to the Latin alphabet and the recognition of the Romanian language were defining moments of the national revival movement in the Republic of Moldova.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized that the Romanian language preserved the identity of the Romanians between the Prut and Dniester during the trying periods, and the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, highlighted the responsibility of today's generations to pass on this heritage.
