07/28/26 Missionary trip to the village of Kochnevotranslated

On July 28, on the Day of the Baptism of Rus', the rector of the Church of the Prophet Elijah in Ivanovo, Archimandrite Nikandr (Shamov), together with the cleric of the temple, Priest Andrei Zozulya, performed a missionary service in a ruined church in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Kochnevo, Ivanovo region.

Involved local residents cleaned up the central part of the temple, collected dozens of buckets of garbage, mowed the grass near the temple, and cut down weeds and dangerous invasive plants. After cleaning, we decorated the lectern and iconostasis of the temple.

They also cleared the path to the tombstone of a participant in the wars of 1805–1807. with Napoleon and the Russian-Turkish War of 1806–1812. Major Nikolai Alekseevich Kuroyedov, who participated in the construction of this temple, and erected a memorial cross.

In front of the temple, Priest Andrei Zozulya performed a prayer service, and then a funeral litany at the hero’s grave.

Booklets about the holiday of the Baptism of Rus', prepared by the Synodal Missionary Department and replicated by the Ivanovo-Voznesensk diocese, were distributed to all village residents who met.
