09/27/2026 Anniversary celebrations at the monastery of the Life-giving Cross of the Lordtranslated

On September 27, on the feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Bishop John of Shuisky and Teikovsky and Bishop Evfimy of Anadyr and Chukotka celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the monastery of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord.

Concelebrating with the archpastors were: the rector of the monastery, Abbot Gabriel (Lysov), and his brethren in holy orders; abbot of the Resurrection-Fedorovsky Monastery, abbot Irinarh (Levintovich); Dean of the churches of the Ilyinsky district, Hegumen Hermogen (Bazanov). The diaconal rank was headed by Deacon Alexander Volov. The monastery's fraternal choir performed the liturgical chants. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a procession of the cross was held around the monastery. Two exact copies of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, revealed in the Sakhota swamp in 1423, were consecrated.

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord is the patronal one in the monastery; moreover, this year marks the 250th anniversary of the monastery church, which was erected in 1776 on the site of a dilapidated wooden church.

The patronal celebrations ended with the presentation of a collection of works of the Third All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Holy Rus' as the highest ideal of Russian culture.” The publication was presented…
