On September 26, on the eve of the Feast of the Veneration of the Life-Giving Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, a Divine Liturgy was held in the chapel dedicated to the Veneration of the Life-Giving Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ located at 1st Line Street in Afanasevo village, Ivanovo District. The divine service was conducted by Fr. George Vitiazev, secretary of the Diocesan Administration and priest-in-charge of the Transfiguration Church in Ivanovo city.

The chapel has a long and complex history. It existed already at the beginning of the 19th century — there is a corresponding notation on the map of Vladimir Governorate from 1802. The building was likely constructed of brick in the second half of the 19th century. During the Soviet period, the chapel was closed: for many years it was used as a transformer substation and later, in the 1990s, as a grocery store.

After the store ceased operations, the building stood idle for more than ten years and was in a deplorable state. The restoration of this holy site became possible thanks to the efforts of concerned individuals, and on September 10, 2022, Metropolitan Ivanovo-Vosnesensk and Vichugsk Ioasaf consecrated the chapel.

Currently, the chapel is attached to the parish of the Church of St. Blaise Matrona of Moscow in Bogorodsk village.
