2029 could be designated as the Year of Doina Cornea: the Senate voted, the Chamber of Deputies followstranslated

On Monday, the Senate adopted a bill establishing 2029 as the Year of Doina Cornea. The senators thus pay tribute to the opponent of the communist regime on the 100th anniversary of her birth.

Central and local public administration authorities, cultural institutions, educational institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations will be able to organize or support cultural, educational and scientific events dedicated to commemorating the personality and work of Doina Cornea, according to the law voted by the senators.

Also, the Romanian Television Society and the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Society will be able to include in their programs programs dedicated to Doina Cornea and her role in the recent history of Romania.

The legislative proposal is to be debated by the Chamber of Deputies.
