The palliative care center of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, placed under the patronage of Saint Nectarie Taumaturgul, celebrates two decades of activity on Thursday, on which occasion it kicks off the Marathon of Good Deeds and the Month of Open Doors, activities that take place throughout the month of July.
"Two decades ago, the St. Nectarie Palliative Care Center opened its doors with a profoundly human mission: that of being with the suffering people and their families, offering them not only medical care, but also relief, hope, support and love," says Adriana Căruntu, director of the center, in a statement received by the newsroom.
"Throughout these 20 years, thousands of patients have benefited from specialized palliative care services, pain and symptom management, continuing medical care, psychological, social and spiritual counseling."
"For each patient, the center's team tried to offer not only treatment, but also respect for human dignity, compassion and presence", explains Adriana Căruntu.
