The Beginning: A miracle and a dream The history of the Holy Church of Agios Nektarios of Edessa did not begin with administrative decisions, but through the tears of prayer and a shocking miracle. In the middle of the last century, the now blessed Protopresbyter Nikolaos Papachristodoulou was experiencing the great test of childlessness. Turning the eyes of his soul to the newly-appeared miracle-working saint, Saint Nektarios of Pentapolis, he saw his faith bear fruit. The Saint heard his prayer and gave him a daughter, Nektaria. Filled with unspeakable gratitude, Father Nikolaos made it his life's goal to build a place of worship dedicated to his patron. Thus began the construction of a small chapel, which originally belonged to the adjacent historic parish of Agios Dimitrios of Edessa.
