Scientific Conference with central theme: "Mesolonghi 1826-2026: Place of Sacrifice and Universal Symbol of Freedom"translated

The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, through the Special Synodal Committee on Cultural Identity, and the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Akarnania organize on October 16-18, 2026 a Scientific Conference with the central theme: "Mesolongi 1826-2026: Place of Sacrifice and Ecumenical Symbol of Freedom". The Conference will be held at the "Trikoupio Cultural Center" of the Holy City of Messolonghi and is part of the Commemoration and Honor events for the 200th Anniversary of the heroic Exodus of Messolonghi (April 10, 1826). Thirty speakers from various scientific specialties will present announcements about the Second Siege, important personalities and daily life in Messolonghi, for the military and naval operations, for the participation of women, children and Philhellenes, for the international impact of the Exodus in Diplomacy, Literature and Art and for the contribution of the Orthodox Clergy.
