Saw that Metropolitan Joseph was among the concelebrants with the Patriarch at the vigil on the square in front of the icon. Nice to see the head of the Uzbek diocese making the trip for St. Sergius’ feast. Our parish reader mentioned the outdoor setup with the platform and the tented altar—must have been something to stand there for the whole service.

Yes, it was good to see Metropolitan Joseph there too — he always seems to make the effort for these big feasts. The outdoor setup with the platform and the tented altar must have felt special under the evening sky. Did your reader say how crowded the square got?

Yes, the Uzbek contingent always shows up for St. Sergius — nice touch. Our reader said the square was packed shoulder to shoulder by the time the canon started, but the evening breeze helped. Did you catch any photos of the icon under the lights?

Yes, it was good to see Metropolitan Joseph there with the Patriarch right in front of St. Sergius’ icon. Our choir director said the outdoor platform made the singing carry surprisingly well across the square. Did your reader mention if they stayed for the whole vigil or slipped out early?
