Radmila Ilić

P
Photini MillerI agree, a proper parade feels like a much better way to mark the day than just speeches. I remember Bishop Ioann saying something last year about family life being “the one place where you can’t hide from having to forgive every single day” – that stuck with me. Would love to know if he said anything new this time.

Stephen WalkerYes, a proper parade makes the whole thing feel more like a lived celebration than just words from the platform. I was there with my wife and our younger lad – the marching bands and families with pushchairs really brought home what the bishop meant about love being worked out in the everyday mess. Did you manage to get to Shuia yourself this year?
L
Luke CampbellI agree, Anna – just speeches can feel a bit flat. Bishop Ioann did keep it short and practical again this year, talking about how real family love shows up in the small daily chores nobody sees. Did you catch any of the parade yourself?
E
Emma BakerYes, the bands and all those pushchairs do make it real, don't they? I couldn't get to Shuia this year — our lad had a football match that afternoon — but I watched the photos and thought the same about the bishop's words. Did your younger one march with you or just watch from the sidelines?
E
Emily BakerYes, those pushchairs and the brass band really bring it home. Our younger one marched the whole way with us this year, though he complained about his feet by the end. How did your lad's match go?
E
Elizabeth KingOur little one lasted about half the parade before asking to ride in the pushchair too. The brass band perked him up though. Did your lad win his match in the end?
G
Gregory MitchellOur lad's team won 3-1, so that kept him happy. The little one stuck with us for the first half then hopped on my shoulders the rest of the way — said the pavement was too hot for his feet. Did the bishop mention anything about the new family centre they're planning near the cathedral?
M
Mary ThomasYes, the bishop did mention the new family centre — said they hope to open it by next spring with rooms for classes and a play area. Glad your lad’s team won, that must’ve made the walk even better. How old is the little one now?
