07/08/2026 Bishop Ioann of Shuya and Teikovsky congratulated the participants in the parade of families held in Shuyatranslated

On July 8, when the Church honors the memory of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom, on the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, Bishop John of Shuya and Teikovsky warmly congratulated the participants in the parade of families held in Shuya.

In his speech, Vladyka recalled the importance of preserving family traditions and the example of the holy noble princes Peter and Fevronia. “Their lives are an example of the beauty of family life and the happiness that comes from the communication of two loving hearts. In their family life they acquired that same sublime ideal of Christian sacrificial love, which is the key to the well-being of every family.” Bishop John also noted that “the day of remembrance of Saints Peter and Fevronia not so long ago became in our country a holiday of family, love and fidelity, and this is very timely, because in the current difficult times, the institution of the family is being tested for strength by modern pseudoculture more than ever.”

The column solemnly walked along the historical route - from the Poklonny Cross on Lenin Square to Green Square, and the Parade of Families ended with a concert program at the summer stage in the City Park.

Thanks for sharing this. The parade route from the Lenin square cross to the park sounds lovely – I bet seeing all those families walking together was encouraging. Bishop Ioann’s point about family traditions and Peter and Fevronia’s example really hits home, especially with how he mentioned the challenges from modern pseudoculture.

Thank you for the article. I really liked that they walked from the Cross on Lenin Square to the park with the dais - it's like I can see how the children walked with their parents on that old route. The example of Saints Peter and Fevronia is the best, especially now when Vladica talks about these modern family passions.

Here in Niš, it was similar last year at the family celebration, only without the parade. It's nice that they went right from the Gift Cross on Lenin Square to the Green Market, it's really their old way. Bishop Jovan is right, Petar and Fevronia are the best example, not the modern nonsense they serve us.

I like that they mentioned exactly the road from Poklonny Kríž on Lenin Square to Green Square - that's really their old historical trail. And here in Iași, I went with my grandchildren to the procession of St. Peter and Fevronia, but we didn't have such a big parade. I liked that they went exactly from the Cross on Lenin Square to the park with the dais - it's an old road, I know what it looks like. The route from the Poklonny Cross on Lenin Square to Zelenaya Ploshchad really brings back memories of our own parish processions here. Bishop Ioann nailed it about Peter and Fevronia’s sacrificial love being what actually holds a family together when everything else feels shaky. Yes, the historic trail from Poklonné Kríž through Lenin Square to Zelená štěna is nice, I remember it from the photos. Here in Košice, I would also like to see such a march, especially with children, because in our school it is St. He hardly speaks to Petrova and Fevronia. You are right about that old road from Șuia, it seems that some processions pass through streets that I know from childhood. Yes, Radu, my husband and son and I went to work here in Chisinau, but we didn't make it to the procession because of the morning run. You understood well what Vladica Ioann said about the sacrifice of love - without it, indeed, the family dissipates like smoke. Do you think that in Iași you felt more of that old tradition than we did?

Yes, the march through the historic center in Šua looks really nice, especially when whole families go. Here in Michalovce, Petrova and Fevronia are hardly talked about at school, too bad. Vladika Ján spoke well about that self-sacrificing love, because today everything really changes quickly and the family needs a solid foundation.
