Another three-song, fifth voice. Irmos: See, see

Another three-song, voice 5. Irmos: Look...

Come, let us descend into the cage of our souls, repaying the Lord’s prayers and crying out: Our Father, who is in heaven, weaken and forgive our debts, for He alone is compassionate.

Come, let us all enter into the inner room of the soul together, praying to the Lord and crying out: “Father in heaven, ease our debts and let go, O Only Kindhearted One!”

* * *

Our souls in fasting quietly show, we do not complain about the longed-for days of change, as if pious correction has been granted to us.

In Lent, while we reveal the joyful depths of our souls, let us not be embarrassed by the arrival of the desired [fast] days, which shines for us with good deeds of piety!

Glory: Trinity: Beginning, Uncreated, Trinitarian Unity, Lady, Kingdom of Ages, Thee is glorified, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, many Angels and all human nature.

Glory... Unity, Beginningless, Uncreated, Three-Host, Queen and Lady of the Ages! You - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - are glorified by hosts of angels and all human nature!

And now: Theotokos: To you, the all-virtuous glory of our race, we are deified by you, O Virgin: for you gave birth to us the Savior and God Christ, who freed us from the oath.

And now... Theotokos. We glorify You, the Entirely Virtuous, the Glory of our race: after all, thanks to You, O Virgin, we received deification - You gave birth to Christ for us, the Savior and God, who delivered us from the curse.

Καὶ νῦν…

* * *

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Who will put out the fire? who shuts up the mouth of the beasts? Fast, deliver the youths from the furnace, and deliver the prophet Daniel from the lions of food: whom we also kiss, brethren.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee!

What put out the flame? What closed the lions' mouths? This is the fast that delivered the young men from the oven and the prophet Daniel from being devoured. And we will love fasting, brothers!

Irmos: You see, you see, for I am God, put on flesh by His will, that I may save Adam from the flattery of the serpent who fell into crime.

Irmos: Look: I am God, Who took on flesh voluntarily in order to save fallen Adam, who violated [the commandment] because of the deception of the Serpent.

Song 8. In the bush to Moses:

Song 8. In the bush to Moses...

ᾨδὴ η´.

Put aside sleep, my soul, fierce laziness, and diligently stay awake to the Divine commandments: the Bridegroom is approaching, the priest strives to forestall Him.

Drive away the dangerous dream of carelessness, my soul, stay awake diligently, keeping the commandments of God, because the Bridegroom is approaching - holding a lamp, hasten to meet Him!

Wounded by the cruelty of sweets with weapons, heal me with the healing generosity of Your benevolent wave, O Word, as I gratefully glorify You forever.

O Merciful One, heal me, severely wounded by the ax of pleasure, [bandaging] with the bandages of Your kind-hearted sympathy, so that with gratitude I glorify You forever!

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Having spat upon the rich man’s food, come and fast with Lazarus, and let Abraham’s bosom warm us too.
