At Vespers on Friday of the first week of Lent

The verse is self-consonant, voice five:

Self-vocal stichera [Triodion], tone 5.

Come, faithful ones, let us do the works of God in the light, as we walk well in the days: let us take away every unrighteous reproach from ourselves and our neighbor, not counting this stumbling as a temptation. Let us leave voluptuousness to the flesh, let us increase the talents of our souls, give bread to those who need it, and let us approach Christ in repentance crying out: Our God, have mercy on us.

Come, faithful ones, let us do God’s works in the light, so that we may walk decently in the light of day [and not in darkness]! We will take away any dishonest receipt from our neighbor, without making it an obstacle for our neighbor to [his] temptation; let us leave voluptuousness to the flesh and cultivate spiritual gifts; Let us give bread to the needy and come to Christ in repentance, crying: “Our God, have mercy on us!”
