Righteous and praiseworthy God, great and mighty God, Eternal God, hear the sinful man’s prayer at this hour: hear me, who promise to hear those who call on you in truth, and not You detest me, having unclean lips and keeping me in sins, the hope of all the ends of the earth and those who wander far. Take the weapon and the shield and rise up to help me: pour out the sword and lock up the resistance against those who persecute me. Forbid the unclean spirits from the face of my madness, and let the spirit of hatred and resentment, the spirit of envy and flattery, the spirit of fear and despondency, the spirit of pride and all other malice be separated from my thoughts; and may all kindling and movement of my flesh, caused by the devil’s work, be extinguished, and may my soul and body and spirit be enlightened by the light of Your Divine knowledge: and with many bounties I will achieve the union of your faith, in a perfect husband, according to age, and I will glorify with the Angels and all your saints your all-honorable and magnificent name, the Father and the Son and The Holy Spirit, now and forever, and to the ages of ages, amen.

Righteous and glorious God, great and mighty God, eternal God, hear the prayer of sinful man at this hour: hear me, who promised to hear those who call on you in truth, and do not consider me abominable, having unclean lips and bound by sins, the hope of all the ends of the earth and those who wander far! Take up arms and shield and rise to my aid; draw your sword and become a barrier against those who pursue me. Forbid unclean spirits because of my madness, and may the spirit of hatred and rancor, the spirit of envy and flattery, the spirit of fear and despondency, the spirit of pride and all other malice be separated from my thoughts; and may all burning and movement of my flesh, arising from the devil’s influence, be extinguished, and may my soul, and body, and spirit be enlightened by the light of Your Divine knowledge: so that, according to the multitude of Your mercies, I may achieve unity in faith, to the measure of the age of a perfect man, and glorify with the Angels and all Your saints Your venerable and beautiful name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Psalm 37

Psalm to David, in remembrance of the Sabbath.
Psalm of David, in remembrance of the Sabbath, 37.

Lord, do not reprove me with Your wrath, but punish me with Your wrath. Like Thy arrows are in me, and Thou hast established Thy hand upon me. There is no healing in my flesh from the face of Your wrath, there is no peace in my bones from the face of my sin. For my iniquity is greater than my head, for a heavy burden weighs upon me. My wounds have grown stale and rotten from the face of my madness. I suffered and sloshed to the end, I walked around all day complaining. For my body is filled with reproach, and there is no healing in my flesh. I would become embittered and humbled to death, roaring from the sighing of my heart. Lord, before You all my desire and my sighing will not be hidden from You. My heart is troubled, leave me my strength, and the light of my eyes, and that one shall not be with me. My friends and my sincere ones are close to me and stasha, and my neighbors are far away from me, stasha and needy, those who seek my soul, and those who seek evil to me, the verb is vain and flattering all I'll study for a day. But I am deaf and do not hear, and I am dumb and do not open my mouth.

And as a man he would not hear, nor would he have reproach in his mouth. For in You, Lord, I have trusted, You will hear, O Lord my God. As if he said: let my enemies never rejoice at me: and never let my feet move, your great spirit comes upon me. As if I am ready for wounds, and my illness is before me. For I will proclaim my iniquity and take care of my sin. But my enemies live and become stronger than me, and those who hate me without righteousness increase in number. Those who reward me with evil, rewarding the slander of me, persecute the goodness. Do not forsake me, O Lord my God, do not depart from me. Come to my help, O Lord of my salvation. Lord, do not reprove me in Your wrath and do not punish me in Your anger! For Your arrows pierced me, and You laid Your hand on me. There is no healing for my body from Your wrath, no peace for my bones from my sins. For my iniquities have gone beyond my head, like a heavy burden, weighing me down. My wounds stink and fester from my madness.

I suffered and bent to the ground, lamenting and walking all day; For for my sins I have been reproached, and there is no healing for my body. I experienced evil and deeply humbled myself, crying out in the torment of my heart. Lord, all my desires are before You, and my sighs will not be hidden from You. My heart is in confusion, my strength has left me, the light of my eyes has left me, and I have lost that too. My friends and relatives approached me with enmity and left me; And my neighbors moved away from me, and my enemies sought to destroy me, those who wished me harm spoke vain things and became more sophisticated in deceit every day. But I, like a deaf man, did not hear, and like a dumb man, I did not open my mouth; And he was like a man who does not hear and has no objection in his mouth. For in You, O Lord, I trust, and You will hear me, O Lord my God. I said: “Let not my enemies rejoice!” For when my steps faltered, they arrogated themselves over me. But I am ready to accept wounds, and my illness is always before me. I will tell everyone my iniquity and I will think about my sin. But my enemies live and have become stronger than me, and those who hate me unjustly have multiplied.

Those who reward me with evil for good have slandered me, for I strived for good. Do not leave me, Lord my God, do not depart from me! Come to my aid, Lord, who saves me!

Psalm 38

Finally, Idithum, a song to David.
Finally, Idifumu. Song of David, 38.

Reh: I will keep my ways, lest I sin with my tongue: I have kept with my mouth, that the sinner should never arise before me. I became mute and humbled, and kept silent from the blessings, and my illness was renewed. My heart will warm within me, and a fire will flare up in my teaching. Verbs with my tongue: tell me, Lord, my death and the number of my days, what is it? Yes, I understand that I am deprived? These are the spans that Thou hast laid down for my days, and my composition is as nothing before Thee, even though every living man is all vanity. For a man walks like this, but he is in vain; he treasures, and I don’t know who will collect it. And now who is my patience, is it not the Lord? And my composition is from You. Deliver me from all my iniquities; you have given me reproach to the fool. I was dumb and did not open my mouth, as You have done. Leave Thy wounds from me: from the strength of Thy hand I have disappeared. In reproof of lawlessness you punished man and you consumed his soul like a spider: but in vain every man.

Hear my prayer, Lord, and inspire my prayer, do not silence my tears: for I am a stranger with You and a stranger, like all my fathers. Relax me, let me rest, before I even leave, and I won’t be with anyone. I said: “I will keep my ways pure, so that I will not sin with my tongue.” I have put a prohibition on my lips as long as the sinner stands before me. I became numb, humbled, silent, having lost my blessings, and again sorrow took possession of me. My heart was kindled within me, and the fire kindled in my meditation. I spoke with my tongue: Reveal to me, Lord, the day of my death and the number of my days, whether it is great, so that I may understand what remains for me. You have measured my days like a span, and my nature is as if nothing before You. However, everything is vanity, every living person! Like a ghost, a man walks, but he fusses in vain; collects treasures and does not know who will get them. And now who is my hope? Isn't it You, Lord? And my nature was created by You. Deliver me from my iniquities! You gave me to be reproached by a madman. I was speechless and did not open my mouth, because You desired it.

Take Thy blows away from me, for I have fainted from Thy strong hand. By exposing iniquity, You taught man and made his life as fragile as a web. However, every person is vanity. Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my prayer! Do not remain silent when you see my tears, for I am a stranger with You and a stranger, like my fathers. Have mercy on me, so that I may taste peace before I die and am no more.
