Hail Him in the timpani and face,
Hail Him in the strings and organ's grace.
O Lord, most dreadful is Thy mystery of resurrection:
for Thou hast passed forth from the grave,
as the Bridegroom from the foe,
by death Thou hast destroyed death,
and hast loosed Adam.
Wherefore on high the angels rejoice,
and on earth men glorify,
the good-will which Thou didst bear towards us, O Lover of Mankind.
Sinful Jews,
where seals and money-changers are,
give ye to soldiers;
not stealthily hath been hidden the treasure,
but risen again by strength:
ye yourselves, having shamed,
having cast off the Lord of glory,
hath suffered and been buried,
and hath risen from the dead:
unto Him we shall bow.
Stichos: Arise, O Lord my God, that Thy hand may be lifted up, / and forget not Thy mercies unto the end.
Sealed the tomb, /
as thou wast betrayed by the Jews, /
guards were set, and signs laid,
and the King entered through a door sealed;
either as though dead, before us standing,
or as though to God bowing, singing with us: /
Glory to Thee, who art sealed in the tomb, and to Thy Resurrection.
Stichos: Ispověmtesya tebe, gdy, vsemy sercdcem moim, / pověm vsja čudesa tvoja.
O most sweet Saviour of our souls,
Whose precious tomb the myrrh-bearing women weeping sought,
Reaching even to the Lord,
And bearing death, they besought Thy holy body to anoint:
Finding instead a radiant angel seated on the stone,
Who spake unto them and said:
"Your tears have flowed from the side that gave life to all the world;
What seek ye in the grave of the deathless?
Go rather to those who know not,
And proclaim the glorious resurrection,
By which Thou hast enlightened us,
Grant us cleansing and great mercy."
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.
Verily, Thou bearest the true peace, O Lord, to men; Thy peace, having risen, doth manifest;
Thou didst show forth a fearful spectacle, O Comforter, to them that seek the Spirit to see:
But Thou didst still the tumult of their souls, showing their hands and feet.
Therefore, O unbelievers, by partaking and remembrance of instruction,
Thou hast overturned them unto us, that we might understand the writings:
By which also Thou didst promise the sacred oblation and blessed;
And didst descend into heaven.
Wherefore, with them we bow before Thee, O Lord, Thy glory.
And now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
O Theotokos, Gladsome Light,
Thou hast been glorified, O Thee, by the double Trinitarian mystery,
For Thou didst enwrap in Thine embrace Him who was imprisoned by the Adversary,
Adam was raised up,
The oath was broken,
Eve was set free,
Death was destroyed,
And we have waited for this.
Therefore, singing with gladness, we cry:
Blessed is Jesus Christ,
Blessed is His Will thus, glory to Thee.
Glory to Thee who hast shown us light.
