When thou didst descend below unto death, O Life without death, then did Death slay thee by the brightness of God's glory. And when thou didst also die and wast laid in the lower parts of the earth, thou didst bring to life again all the powers of heaven: O Giver of Life, Theotokos, to Thee be glory.
O Theotokos,
More than in sense, O most renowned Theotokos, sealed by purity of mystery, thou hast known truly, having given birth to the True: wherefore pray thou that our souls may be saved.
