With a contrite soul we bow down to You and pray to You, Savior of the world: For You are the God of the repentant.
Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.

Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.

Prophecies of Ezekiel reading (Ezekiel 1:1–20)
It came to pass in the thirtieth summer, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, and I was in the midst of the captivity at the time of Chebar: and the heavens were opened, and I saw the vision of God. On the fifth day of the month, this is the fifth summer of the captivity of King Joachim. And the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the son of Buzi, the priest in the land of the Chaldeans at the time of Chebar, and the hand of the Lord was upon me. And I saw, and behold, a spirit was lifted up, coming from the north, and a great cloud was in it. And the light is around him, and the fire shines. And in the midst of it was the vision of an electr in the midst of fire, and the light in it, in the midst, like the likeness of four living creatures: and this vision of them was like the likeness of a man in them. And there are four faces to one, and four wings to one. And their legs were right and their feet were feathered, and the sparks were like shining copper, and their wings were light. And the hand of man is under their wings in their four countries. And their faces, and the four of them shouted, holding each other, but the faces of their four did not turn, they always walked: each one walked straight to his own face.
And the likeness of their faces, the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right hand by four, and the face of the body by four, and the face of Orlais by four. [And their faces] and their wings were stretched out over four, each two joined to each other, and two coverings on the top of their bodies, and each one went straight to his face. Wherever the spirit may go, I walk and do not turn back. And in the midst of the living creatures there was a vision like coals of a burning fire, like a vision of candles meeting in the midst of the living creatures, and the light of fire, and from the fire came forth like lightning. And the animal flows and turns like the vision of a lucky man. And I saw, and behold, there was one ring on the earth, holding four living creatures. And the vision of the wheels, and their creation, is like the vision of Tarshish, and the likeness of the four is one: and their work was as if there were a stake in a wheel. I marched into four countries: I didn’t turn around, I never marched with them. Below are their ridges and the height above them: and they saw that, and their shoulders were filled with fringes around the four.
And whenever the living creatures walked, the procession and the wheels that held them up: and whenever the living creatures lifted up from the earth, the wheels also lifted up. Wherever there were clouds, there was also a spirit, and the spirit of life was also in the wheels, and the wheels were raised up with them, and the spirit of life was in the wheels.
Reading the prophecy of Ezekiel [1:1–20]
And it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month: I was among the captives by the river Chebar, and the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. On the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of the captivity of King Jehoiakim, the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the son of Buzi, the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar. And the hand of the Lord was upon me. And I saw: and behold, a wind rose up from the north, and there was a great cloud in it, and light around it, and the radiance of fire. And in the middle of it there was, as it were, the brilliance of an electrum among the fire and light in it, and in the middle, as it were, the likeness of four animals; and this is their appearance: as if the likeness of a man was in them. And each has four faces, and each has four wings. And their legs are straight, and their legs are covered with feathers, and the sparks are like shining copper, and their wings are light. And the hand of a man is under their wings, on their four sides. And their faces and their wings—four of them—turned toward each other, and their faces did not turn when they moved, but each walked in the direction of its face.
And the likeness of their faces: the face of a man and the face of a lion on the right side for four, and the face of a calf on the left side for four, and the face of an eagle for four. And their faces and their wings - four of them - were spread out from above: each had two wings touching each other, and two covered the top of their bodies, and each went in the direction of his face. Wherever the spirit went, there they went and did not turn back. And among the animals there was the appearance, as it were, of fire of burning coals, as it were, the appearance of lamps moving among the animals, and the light of the fire, and from the fire came as if lightning, and the animals quickly moved to and fro in the form of lightning. And I saw: and behold, on the earth there was one wheel for each of the four living creatures. And the appearance of the wheels and their structure are like the appearance of topaz, and the likeness of the four is one; and their appearance and structure were as follows: as if a wheel were within a wheel. They moved on their four sides, they did not turn when they walked, and their ridges, but they were high. And I saw them: and their shoulders were full of eyes around all four.
And when the animals walked, the wheels that held them moved, and when the animals rose from the ground, the wheels also rose. Where there was a cloud, there was also a spirit to go: the animals walked, and the wheels rose with them, for the spirit of life was in the wheels.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 126), tone 4: Unless the Lord builds a house, those who build it labor in vain.
Verse: Unless the Lord preserves the city, guard it in vain.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 126), tone 4: If the Lord does not build the house, those who built it have labored in vain.
Verse: If the Lord does not preserve the city, the guard did not close his eyes in vain.
