Lent, the divine time that cleanses the passions of the soul and washes away bodily ulcers, has now come: let us strive for faith, and accept this wisely.

The divine time of Lent has come and has come, cleansing the passions of souls and washing away spiritual wounds. Let us come together, faithful ones, and welcome him warmly!

A good time has appeared, in the divine joy of the soul, clothing every face: come, let us receive this joyfully, by fasting and prayer we purify ourselves.

A good time has appeared, clothing all faces with the divine joy of souls; come and let us receive it with joy, let us cleanse ourselves in advance by fasting and prayer [before Easter]!

* * *

Fasting, tears, prayer, the humble custom, for our sake let us offer to the humble one: so that on the day of abstinence, forgiveness will grant our sins.

Let us offer fasting, humble disposition, prayer, and tears to Him who humbled Himself for our sake, so that He may decide to forgive us during our abstinence for [our] sins!

Theotokos: With Your radiant rays, O Lady of the good world, my soul has banished the darkness and the night of my sin: let me sing earnestly and bless Thee.

Theotokos: With Your luminous lightning, O Good Lady of the world, drive away the darkness of the night of my sin and my soul, and (yes) I will sing and glorify You diligently!

Another, voice 8: You have rejected me:

Another [trisong], voice 8: Why did He remove from Your face...

I worship your cross, O Lord, Lover of mankind, by whom you saved me, and I sing of the saving and divine passions of the Lord, by whom my painful passions were delivered In a word, passing into a harmless life.

I adore Your Cross, O Lover of Mankind, with which You saved me, and I glorify the saving and divine Passion, thanks to which I was delivered from my tormenting passions and I passed into a life alien to sorrow, O Word!

We trust in the cross, we turn away from the flattery of the opposite, having established ourselves in it, we will surely know God like newborn lambs of the elect, and drink unflattering milk.

Having placed our hope in the Cross, we rejected the enemy’s deception, and, having nailed ourselves to Him, showed our loyalty to God, and were recognized [by God] as newly born chosen sheep, and drank the unlying milk.

* * *

Glory, threefold: We glorify the Father, and the Word of all, and the Holy Spirit in the One Nature, expressing the light knowledge: worshiping both, and dividing persons, unconfused, unfailingly serving.

Glory...Trinitarian: We glorify the Father and the Word and the Holy Spirit all in one nature, and we proclaim this luminous knowledge. Honoring both [the Person and nature] and distinguishing the Persons unmergedly, we invariably serve [God].

Theotokos: Hope in the end, joy in Your servant You are the pure Virgin, who honors Your image with love, preserve the Most Pure One: and through Your prayers we are all strangers freedom, like the most merciful one.

Theotokos: You are the Hope of all the ends [of the earth] and the joy of Your servants, O Pure Virgin. With love, protect those who worship Your image, All-Holy One; How, Most Compassionate One, by Your prayerful intercession, deliver us all from the Enemy!

* * *

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Lord, correct Thy right path for all Thy servants who honor love, establish the field, and bring us to the best of Thy holy kingdom.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee!

Direct all Your servants, who honor [You] with love, to Your straight path, O Lord, and strengthen us in the field of Fasting and, turning us to the better, honor us with Your holy Kingdom!

Having fasted, the Deliverer has now determined for us a cleansing time for spiritual impurities: let us approach with warm faith our hearts, so that we may receive forgiveness.

[Our Savior] fasted and [Himself] determined the measure of the upcoming Fast for cleansing from spiritual defilements; Let us come together, faithful ones, with warm hearts, to receive forgiveness!

The publican Christ receives the groaning of the harlot, and the harlots’ tears from the soul, accept our prayers as the Lover of Mankind, granting us cleansing.

Christ, who accepted the lamentation of the publican and was touched by the sobbing of the harlot [coming] from the soul, accept our prayers as a Lover of mankind and grant us forgiveness!

Glory: Preacher and prophet, martyr and apostle of Yours, the saints and saints, and all Your righteous Christ, pray for the cleansing of the sins of our souls.

Glory... At the request of Your prophets, preachers, apostles and martyrs, saints, hierarchs and all the righteous, bestow upon our souls, Christ, forgiveness of sins!

Theotokos: The only weak thing of human nature, by Your divine Nativity, the Pure One established, hastened to appear to me, entering the Divine field of Lenten.

Theotokos: You alone strengthened the weakness of the human being with the divine creation of the light [of Christ], O Pure One; be my Helper as I enter the divine field of Lent!

Irmos: Cleanse me, O Savior, for my iniquities are many, and bring me up from the depths of evil, I pray, for I have cried out to You, and hear me, God of my salvation.

Irmos: “Be merciful to me, Savior - I have so many iniquities! - and take me, I ask, from the depths of vices,” I cried out to you, “and hear me, God of my salvation!”
