On the Sabbath at the Great Vespers, I called upon the Lord, and psalms of resurrection were sung.
By Thy holy Word, O Lord, Thou hast confounded the devil, and by Thy Resurrection Thou hast dulled the sting of sin, and hast raised us from the gates of death: we glorify Thee, only-Begotten.
Risen Thou, giving life to the human race:
Thou didst teach by kneeling down:
Thou didst terrify those kings of hell,
And tookst for Thyself the gates of weeping.
For entering in, O King, with glory Jesus Christ,
Thou spakest to them that were in bonds, "Go forth":
And to them that were in darkness, Thou didst open.
O Wonderworking, cooperator of the Invisible, having suffered in the flesh for man's love, Thou hast risen immortal. Come, let us fall down before Thee: for by Thy blessed Virgin thou didst escape from spiritual delusion, and having been trained to sing with three Persons of One God.
And these stichera of the Annolation, of the same tone.
Evening prayer we offer thee, O Unending Light, at the end of the ages, since in the mirror of the flesh Thou didst descend into the world, and even to hell beneath, there shattering the very darkness with Thy light, revealing it by Thy Resurrection: O Giver of Light, glory be to Thee.
Begging of the Prince of Peace our Lord Jesus Christ: for by Him death was overcome, and the world deceived by delusion was saved. The angelic host rejoices, the demons flee from delusion, Adam rises up, the devil is confounded.
Who from the custody of teaching was taught by the lawless, cover the uprising of Christ, and receive the silverlings, and say to those sleeping, "He who was dead is adorned from the grave." Who saw, who heard, when the dead was stolen, more than anointed and naked, leaving in the tomb a burial garment; do not be deceived by the Jews, but understand their sayings prophesied, and know that He is truly the Saviour of the world, and almighty.
O Lord, Thou who dost deliver from the bonds of captivity, and hast overcome death, enlighten us with Thy divine light, and have mercy upon us.
Glory, and honour, now, to the Theotokos:
In the dark sea, unbridable brides: there was written a likeness sometimes: then Moses, divider of waters; here however Gabriel, minister of wonders. Then in depths he journeyed imperishably with Jesus: now hath born without seed Emmanuel's mother, remaining uncorrupted by childbirth. Thou, and before Thou, appear as man, but have mercy on us.
