Irmos sings not only that miracle of the Lord, which always lies at the basis of the 8th canto - the flow of dew from the flame of a red-hot furnace - but also another, when, through the prayer of the prophet Elijah, the Lord brought down fire from heaven, consuming a sacrifice abundantly poured with water (1 Kings 18:30-38).
