The children of Israel rose up from Succoth and fought in Othom in the wilderness. God is their leader, and in the day he will show them the way with a pillar of cloud, and by night he will shine for them with a pillar of fire. And the pillar of cloud did not fail in the days, and the pillar of fire in the night, before all the people. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Let them fight against the sons of Israel, and let them fight directly against the court, between Magdol and between the sea, straight to Behelsephon: let them fight against them at the sea. And Pharaoh said to his people about the children of Israel: they are going astray in the land, for the wilderness is shut up for them. And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and will marry them behind them: and I will be glorified in Pharaoh, and in all his army, and all the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord: and I have done this. And it was announced to the king of Egypt that the people were fleeing. And the heart of Pharaoh turned, and his servants against the people, and said, What hath he done, that he let the children of Israel go, that they should not work for us? Pharaoh has harnessed his chariots, and gathered all his people with him.
And the chosen chariots were six hundred, and all the horses of Egypt, and three hundred over all. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh the king of Egypt and his servants, and drove the children of Israel behind; and the children of Israel went out with a high hand. And the Egyptians pursued them, and found them encamped at Mori: and all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh and the cavalry, and his army, went straight to the court, opposite Behelsepphon. And Pharaoh came near, and when the children of Israel looked up, they saw, and behold, the Egyptians arrayed themselves after them, and were greatly afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. And a message to Moses: because you would not be a grave in Egypt, you brought us to death in the desert: what did you do for us, bringing us out of Egypt? Isn’t this the same verb that came to you in Egypt, saying: leave us, let us work as Egyptians? It would be better for us to work as Egyptians than to die in this desert. Moses spoke to the people: take heart, stand, and see the salvation that the Lord will bring to us this day.
Even though you have seen the Egyptians today, do not dare anyone to see them in eternal time. The Lord will fight for you, but you will remain silent. And the Lord said to Moses: Why do you cry to Me? Rtsy son of Israel, and let them travel. But you take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and break it, and let the children of Israel go in through the middle of the sea on dry ground. And behold, I will harden the heart of Pharaoh, and of all the Egyptians, and they will follow after them, and I will be glorified in Pharaoh, and in all his army, and in his chariots and in his horses. And all the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord, when I am glorified among Pharaoh, and in his chariots, and in his horses. And the angel of God that walked before the army of the children of Israel was taken away from behind them: and the pillar of cloud was taken away from before them, and the hundred from behind them. And in the midst of the army of Egypt, and in the midst of the army of the sons of Israel, and an hundred: and there was darkness and darkness, and the night came, and did not mingle with each other all the night.
So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea: and the Lord drove away the sea with a strong south wind all night, and made dry land for the sea, and the waters parted. And the children of Israel came down into the midst of the sea on dry land: and there was water on their right hand, and a wall on their side. And she chased the Egyptians, and followed them, and every horse of the Pharaohs, and chariots, and horsemen, into the midst of the sea. When the morning watch came, the Lord looked upon the Egyptian army in the pillar of fire and cloud, and crushed the Egyptian army. And bind the axles of their chariots, and lead them in need. And the Egyptians said: “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord will fight against them against the Egyptians.” And the Lord said to Moses: Stretch out your hand over the sea, and let the waters flow together and cover the Egyptians, their chariots and their horsemen. But Moses stretched out his hand upon the sea, and the waters were made to take place by day: and the Egyptians fled under the waters: and the Lord shook the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters turned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, and all the power of Pharaoh, and followed them into the sea, and not one was left of them.
And the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea: and there was water on their right hand, and a wall on their feet. And the Lord delivered Israel on that day out of the hand of Egypt: and the children of Israel saw the Egyptians dead at the edge of the sea. Israel saw the great hand that the Lord had done to the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed in God, and in Moses, His saint. Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and said:
