A wise son makes his father happy, but a foolish son brings sadness to his mother. Treasures do not benefit the wicked, but righteousness will deliver from death. The Lord will not destroy a righteous soul with hunger, but He will overthrow the life of the wicked. Poverty humbles a husband, but the hands of the courageous become rich. A learned son will be wise, but a foolish one will be used as a servant. The wise son will be saved from the heat, but the wicked son will become paralyzed during the harvest. The blessing of the Lord is on the head of the righteous, but untimely sorrow will cover the lips of the wicked. The memory of the righteous will remain with praise, but the name of the wicked will fade away. The wise in heart will accept the commandments, but the one who is intemperate with his lips, wandering, will stumble. He who walks upright will walk confidently, but he who perverts his ways will be known. He who blinks his eyes with deceit brings sorrow to people, but he who reproaches with boldness pacifies. The fountain of life is in the hand of the righteous, but destruction covers the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all the quarrelsome. He who speaks wisdom with his lips beats a foolish man with a rod.

The wise hide their feelings, but the lips of the foolish bring destruction. The wealth of the rich is a strong city, the destruction of the wicked is poverty. The deeds of the righteous create life, but the fruits of the wicked create sins. Learning guards the paths of life, but he who is uneducated by instruction wanders. The lips of the right conceal enmity, but those who utter abuse are the most foolish. If you talk too much, you will not avoid sin, but by guarding your lips you will become wise. Purified silver is the tongue of the righteous, but the heart of the wicked will perish. The lips of the righteous perceive high things, but the foolish die in poverty. The blessing of the Lord is on the head of the righteous; it enriches, and sorrow in the heart will not be added to it.
