Troparion of prophecy, tone 5:
Our many-sinful life and unrepentant disposition are preceded by generosity, Lord: do You know nothing else, possessing life and death: save, as the Lover of Mankind.
Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.
Troparion of prophecy, tone 5: Lord, according to Your pity, deliver us from a sinful life, prevent an unrepentant attitude: besides You, we know no other master over life and death. Save as a Lover of Mankind!
Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 17), tone 7: I will love You, O Lord, my fortress,/ The Lord is my strength.
Verse: My God is my Helper and I trust in Him: [My Protector and the horn of my salvation and my Protector].
Prokeimenon (Psalm 17), tone 7: I will love You, O Lord, my strength; The Lord is my stronghold.
Verse: My God is my Helper, I will trust in Him: for He is my Defender and the weapon of my salvation, my Protector.
Reading the prophecies of Isaiah (3:1-14).
Behold, the Lord Lord of hosts will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the mighty and the mighty, the strength of bread and the strength of water, the giant and the mighty, and the man of war, and the judge, and a prophet, and a watcher, and an elder, and a ruler of fifty, and a wondrous adviser, and a wise architect, and a wise listener. And I will make young men rulers over them, and scoffers will rule over them. And people will attack, man against man, and man against his neighbor: the youth will attack the elder, and the dishonest will attack the honest. As there is a man who is his brother or his father at home, the verb: robe imashi, be our leader, and let my goods be under you. And having answered on that day he said: I will not be your leader, for there is neither bread nor robe in my house: I will not be the leader of this people. For Jerusalem was forsaken, and Judah fell, and their tongue with iniquity did not submit to the Lord. For this reason their glory is now humbled, and the coldness of their faces is against them: but they proclaimed their sin like Sodom and revealed it.
Woe to their souls, for they have thought the evil advice upon themselves, rexha: let us bind the righteous, for we have no need to eat: for we shall eat the fruits of our deeds. Woe to the wicked: for the evil one will befall him according to the work of his hands. My people, your henchmen reap you, and the tormentors possess you: my people, your blessed ones flatter you, and trouble the paths of your feet. But now the Lord will arrange for judgment, and will bring His people to judgment: the Lord Himself will come to judgment, with the elders of the people and with their princes.
Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [3:1–14a]
Behold, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, will take away from Judah and Jerusalem the nourisher and the nourisher, the reinforcement of bread and the reinforcement of water, the mighty and strong, and the warrior, and the judge, and the prophet, and the seer, and the elder, and the ruler, and the wondrous counselor, and the wise builder and the understanding listener. And I will make young men leaders over them, and the mockers will rule over them. And among the people they will attack one another, each one against his neighbor; a youth will insult an elder, an unworthy one will insult a worthy one. And a man will approach his brother or his father’s relative and say: “You have clothes, be our leader, and let my food come from you.” And on that day he will say in response: “I will not be your leader, because in my house there is neither bread nor clothing, I will not be the leader of this people.” For Jerusalem is weakened, and Judah is fallen, their tongue is lawless; they are disobedient to the Lord. Therefore, their glory is diminished, and the shame of their face testifies against them, because they talk about their sin, as in Sodom, and make it obvious.
Woe to their souls, because they conceived evil counsel against themselves, saying: “Let us bind the righteous, because he is inconvenient for us.” Therefore they will taste the fruits of their deeds. Woe to the wicked: disasters will befall him according to the works of his hands. My people! Your tax collectors rob you, extortionists dominate you. My people! Those who glorify you deceive you and confuse the paths of your feet. But now the Lord will arise in judgment and bring His people to judgment. The Lord himself will come to judgment with the elders of the people and with their rulers.
