1. The wave of the sea, which hid the persecutor of old, the tormentor, hid the saved youths under the earth: but we, like youths, sing to the Lord, for we are gloriously glorified.
3. You, who hung the whole earth uncontrollably on the waters, having seen the creature hanging on its forehead, shuddered with horror among many, are you not holy, O Lord, who cry out.
4. On the cross, Habakkuk, seeing Your Divine exhaustion, cried out in horror: You have cut off the mighty power, O Good One, joining with those in hell, for You are omnipotent (Hab. 3:14; Matt. 12:29).
5. Thy Epiphany, O Christ, which mercifully came to us, Isaiah, having seen the light of the evening, cried out from the night: the dead shall rise again, and they that are in their graves shall rise, and all that are born on earth shall rejoice (Is. 26:18).
6. I was born, but was not kept in the chest of the whales Jonah: For wearing your image, who suffered and was given burial, as if from the palace, from the beast, you invited the custodians: they who keep vain and false, abandoned this mercy to nature. The One who in ancient times covered the persecutor and tormentor with a wave of the sea, the children of the saved Himself hid under the earth; but we, like young women, will sing to the Lord, for He has been solemnly glorified.
You, who hung the whole earth on the waters without support, the creature, seeing you hanging on Golgotha, trembled with great horror, crying out: there is no saint but You, Lord.
Habakkuk, seeing Your Divine humiliation on the cross, cried out in amazement: You have stopped, O Good One, the dominion of the mighty, uniting yourself with those in hell as the omnipotent.
Seeing the non-evening light of Thy theophany, O Christ, who was mercifully for us, Isaiah, awake in the night, exclaimed: the dead will rise, and those in the tombs will rise, and all who live on earth will rejoice.
Jonah was swallowed up, but not contained by the whale's bowels; for, prefiguring You, Christ, who suffered and was given up for burial, he came out of the beast, as from a palace, and cried out to the guards of Your tomb: holding on to vain and false things, you have lost Mercy Itself.
7. An indescribable miracle: in the cave he delivered the venerable youths from the flames, in the tomb they are dead, lifeless, singing for the salvation of us: O God the Deliverer, blessed art thou.
8. Be terrified in fear, O heaven, and let the foundations of the earth be moved: behold, the dead are counted among the living ones, and the little ones are accepted strangely into the tomb: Bless the children of Him, sing to the priests, exalt the people to all ages.
9. Do not weep for Me, Mother, seeing in the tomb, Who in your womb without Seed You conceived a Son: for I will arise and be glorified, and I will exalt with glory unceasingly, like God, magnifying You with faith and love.
