Martyred. What shall we call you, saints? Cherubim, for Christ rested on you? Seraphim, since you constantly glorify Him? Angels, because you have rejected your body? By strength, because you act in miracles? You have many names and even more gifts. Pray for the salvation of our souls!

Glory, and now: Holy Cross.

As if we saw You crucified on the forehead, the Savior, the whole creation changed, and the trembling movement did not endure. But the Pure Virgin and Thy Mother, weeping to Thee, crying out: alas for Me, O My Child, My sweetest Savior! What is this new and glorious and strange vision?

Glory... and now... Holy Cross. When [Your Creation] saw You crucified on the Skull [place], Savior, everything created changed - it suffered and trembled - unable to bear [what was happening], and the Pure Virgin and Your Mother cried out with tears in grief: “Woe is me, my Child, my Sweetest Savior! What am I seeing? unheard of, unprecedented, incredible?”

Δόξα… Καὶ νῦν… Σταυροθεοτοκίον. Ὡς ἔβλεψέ σε σταυρούμενον, ἐν τῷ Κρανίῳ Σωτήρ, ἠλλοιοῦτο ἡ σύμπασα, Κτίσις καὶ συνείχετο, δονουμένη μὴ φέρουσα· ἡ δὲ Παρθένος, ἁγνὴ καὶ Μήτηρ σου, ὀδυρομένη, σοὶ ἀνεβόησεν· Οἴμοι ὦ τέκνον μου, Σῶτέρ μου γλυκύτατε! τί τὸ καινόν, τοῦτο καὶ παράδοξον, καὶ ξένον θέαμα;

Reading the prophecies of Isaiah (Isa. 3: 1–14).

Behold, the Lord Lord of hosts will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the mighty and the mighty, the strength of bread and the strength of water, the giant and the mighty, and the man of war, and the judge, and a prophet, and a watcher, and an elder, and a ruler of fifty, and a wondrous adviser, and a wise architect, and a wise listener. And I will make young men rulers over them, and scoffers will rule over them. And people will attack, man against man, and man against his neighbor: the youth will attack the elder, and the dishonest will attack the honest. As there is a man who is his brother or his father at home, the verb: robe imashi, be our leader, and let my goods be under you. And having answered on that day he said: I will not be your leader, for there is neither bread nor robe in my house: I will not be the leader of this people. For Jerusalem was forsaken, and Judah fell, and their tongue with iniquity did not submit to the Lord. For this reason their glory is now humbled, and the coldness of their faces is against them: but they proclaimed their sin like Sodom and revealed it.

Woe to their souls, for they have thought the evil advice upon themselves, rexha: let us bind the righteous, for we have no need to eat: for we shall eat the fruits of our deeds. Woe to the wicked: for the evil one will befall him according to the work of his hands. My people, your henchmen reap you, and the tormentors possess you: my people, your blessed ones flatter you, and trouble the paths of your feet. But now the Lord will arrange for judgment, and will bring His people to judgment: the Lord Himself will come to judgment, with the elders of the people and with their princes.

Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [3, 1–14a]

Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, will take away from Judah and Jerusalem the nourisher and the nourisher, the refreshment of bread and the refreshment of water, the mighty and the strong, and the warrior, and the judge, and the prophet, and the seer, and an old man, and a leader, and a wondrous advisor, and a wise builder, and a prudent listener. And I will make young men leaders over them, and the mockers will rule over them. And among the people they will attack one another, each one against his neighbor, the youth will insult the elder, the unworthy will insult the worthy. And a man will approach his brother or his father’s relative and say: “You have clothing, be our leader, and let my food come from you.” And on that day he will say in response: “I will not be your leader, because in my house there is neither bread nor clothing, I will not be the leader of this people.” For Jerusalem has weakened, and Judah has fallen, their tongue is lawless; they are disobedient to the Lord.

Therefore, their glory is diminished, and the shame of their faces testifies against them, because they talk about their sin, as in Sodom, and make it obvious. Woe to their souls, because against themselves they conceived evil advice, saying: “Let us bind the righteous, because he is inconvenient for us.” Therefore they taste the fruits of their deeds. Woe to the wicked: disasters will befall him according to the work of his hands. My people! Your tax collectors rob you, extortionists rule over you. My people! Those who glorify you deceive you and confuse the paths of your feet. But now the Lord will arise in judgment and bring His people to judgment. The Lord himself will come to judgment with the elders of the people and with their rulers.
