Irmos: One, who knows the weakness of the human being and mercifully imagines himself in it, girds me from on high with power, even as I cry out to You, Holy One, animated by the church Thy ineffable glory, O Lover of mankind.
Saint Father Gregory, pray to God for us.
You have imputed foolishness, wisdom, worldly wisdom, you have loved foolishness on the cross, and this, at the Ramo reception, you have shown, as Paul said, even foolishness worldly wisdom is superior.
Saint Father Gregory, pray to God for us.
Thou hast loved, O Father, with all thy heart the poverty, and humility, and wickedness, and unmerited suffering of man, who fleeing from these, art ever pursued into the wilderness by the stench of thy wounds, crying to Christ: I follow Thee in pursuit.
Staretz Father Gregory, pray to God for us.
Thou didst die, wise one, by the entire ascetic struggle and weeping, washing thyself with tears from the old man within thee, and thou didst take up thy ancient life in Christ and put on the new.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Let us glorify, O multitude of monks from the local monasteries, together with all the priests and nuns, with red-robed voices and divine words, today's common teacher who adorned our lives and words, Gregory.
And now and ever and for ever. Amen.
Seeing thou didst desire, O Gregory, the spiritual dawn, through the intercession of the Mother of God thou art now more brightly enlightened by That Light; through thy prayer, may darkness of passions be changed into the bright grace.
Lord, have mercy (three times).
