Mercy stood still in the hearts of three youths: Glory be, the flame kindles three young men.

O Soul/Spirit and our God, Blessed art Thou.

Blessed art thou, Lord, our God, be praised and glorified thee for ever.

As Most High, Thou art of all things,
Who didst create us and all that Thou hast made,
And verily Thy works are true,
And Thy way is right,
And Thy judgments are true.

And Thou hast truly brought to pass the judgment, O Lord, which Thou didst bring upon us and upon Thy holy city Jerusalem: for verily and with justice hast Thou brought upon us all our iniquity for the sake of our fathers.

We have sinned and have acted unlawfully, departing from Thee, and we have grievously sinned in all things.

And we have not kept thy commandments, nor observed them, nor fulfilled them, as thou commandedst us, that good might come to us.

And all things, wherewith Thou hast created us, and all things, whatsoever Thou hast brought upon us, by a true judgment hast Thou wrought, Thee.

And Thou didst deliver us into the hands of wicked lawless enemies, and unto a king unjust and more crafty than all the earth.

And now there is not for us to open our mouth, nor study nor confession we have made, O Lord, and Thy servants who seek Thee.

Let not our soul reach the uttermost end in Thy name, and let not the covenant of Thy name be profaned.

And I have not left thee without comfort, for Abraham's sake whom Thou didst love, and for Isaac Thy servant, and Ishmael Thy holy one:

And Thou hast said: To multiply them, as the stars of heaven, and as the sand upon the shore of the sea.

Alas, Master, we have sinned more than all languages, and we have fallen short of the love due to Thee today through our sins.

There is neither prince nor prophet, neither leader:
neither offering of destruction, neither sacrifice,
neither oblation, neither incense,
nor place where one may eat before Thee and find mercy.

But with a broken spirit and a humble soul let us receive.

As in all our burnt offerings and young bulls, and as the lamb in the dark: may our sacrifice today before Thee be accepted, and may it be accomplished according to Thy will, for there is no delay for those who hope in Thee.

And now we follow all with our whole heart, and we fear Thee and seek Thy face.

Let not Thy glory be dishonored by us, but work in us according to Thy meekness and the abundance of Thy mercy.

Transform us by Thy wonders, and grant Thy name glory, Lord.

And may all who rule by thy servants be confounded, and may they be ashamed from every power, and the strength of theirs be crushed.

And let them understand, for Thou art the Lord God alone, and glorious throughout all the world.

And the servants of the King did not cease to pour out upon them, by means of a reed dipped in naphtha and in pitch and in resin and in wormwood.

And let the flame be kindled over the pit upon the altar forty-nine.

And abide, and burn, where ye shall find the astrologers.

And the Angel also came down in compunction with them that were present at the feast.

And let there shake forth a fiery flame from the rock,

And Thou didst create the middle way, because the Spirit murmuring like a mist: neither didst Thou touch them with one fire, nor didst Thou grieve them, since beneath them it stood.

Then with one accord, three holy ones went up, and blessed, and glorified God in the cave, saying:

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, remembering Thee, O Lord.

Blessed art thou, Lord, our God, Jesus Christ, most venerable and exalted for ever.

Blessed be the glory of Thee, O Holy One, reverenced and lifted up for ever.

Blessed art thou in the house of thy glory, O Venerable, praised and exalted for ever.

Blessed art thou, O Seeing the void, sitting upon the cherubim, Praised and lifted up for ever.

Blessed art thou, O Theotokos, on the throne of glory in thy worship, Venerable and exalted for ever.

Blessed art thou on the firmament more heavenly, O most venerable and exalted in the ages.

Glory, and now:
