Do, my son, what I command you, and save yourself: you fell into the hands of the evil ones because of your friend, do not weaken, support your friend, for whom you have vouched. Do not let your eyes sleep and your eyelashes sleep, so that you can be saved like a roe deer from a noose and like a bird from a net. Go to the ant, slothful one, and imitate, seeing his ways, and be smarter than him: after all, he has no arable land, neither a force nor a ruler, but in the summer he prepares food for himself and during the harvest he makes a large supply for himself. Or go to the bee and know how hardworking she is, what honorable work she does; the fruits of her labors are used for health by both kings and common people; she is both loved and glorious by everyone; although her strength is small, she is committed to wisdom and is respected. How much longer, sloth, will you lie there? When will you get up from sleep? You sleep a little, sit a little, doze a little, hold your hands on your chest for a little; then poverty and need will come to you like an angry passer-by, like a fast walker.

If you are active, then, like a source, the time of harvest will come for you, but poverty, like a slow runner, will leave you. A foolish and wicked man walks in unjust ways; he winks, makes signs with his feet, explains with his fingers. A depraved heart builds evil machinations; such a person prepares rebellions for the city at all times. Therefore, his death, destruction and irreparable misfortune suddenly comes. For he rejoices in everything that the Lord hates, and suffers misfortune due to the impurity of his soul. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed the blood of the righteous, a heart that plots evil, and feet that rush to do evil will be cut off. An unjust witness fuels lies and stirs up strife between brothers. My son! Keep the commandments of your father and do not reject the commandments of your mother.
