Prokeimenon (Psalm 63), tone 6: Hear, O God, my voice, / always pray to You.
Verse: Take my soul from the fear of the enemy.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 63), tone 6: O God, hear my voice when I pray to You!
Verse: Save my soul from the fear of enemies!
Genesis reading. [Gen.8:21–22, 9:1–7]
Speech of the Lord God: having considered, I will not cause anyone to curse the earth for the deeds of man: the mind of man has been diligent against evil from his youth. For I will not cause anyone to destroy all living flesh as I have created. All the days of the earth, sowing and harvest, winter and heat, summer and spring, day and night will not cease. And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: grow and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it. And your fear and trembling will be on all the beasts of the earth [and on all the livestock of the earth], on all the birds of the air, and on everything that moves on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea: in the hand your vdah [ya]. And everything that moves, even if it is alive, will be your food: like a herbal potion I have given you everything. Let the flesh be in the blood of the soul. For your blood, your souls, I will extort it from the hand of every beast, and from the hand of man’s brother I will extort it. Shed the blood of man in whose place it will be shed: for in the image of God he created man.
But you grow and multiply, and fill the earth and multiply in it.
Reading Genesis [8:21b–22; 9:1–7]
Having thought, the Lord God said: “I will no longer curse the earth for the deeds of people, for man’s thoughts have been tirelessly directed towards evil from his youth, I will no longer smite all living flesh, as I did. “All the days of the earth, sowing and harvest, cold and heat, summer and spring, day and night will not cease.” And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them: “Grow and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it. And all the beasts of the earth, and all the birds of the air, and all that moves on the earth, and all the fish of the sea, shall fear and tremble before you: I have given them into your hands. And every living thing that moves will be your food, just as I have given you all the greenery of the meadow. Just don’t eat meat with the blood of your soul. For your blood, the blood of your souls, I will require it from every beast, and from the hand of a human brother I will require it. Whoever sheds the blood of man, his blood will be shed in its place, for in the image of God I created man. But increase and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.”
Prokeimenon (Psalm 64), tone 6: Hear now, O God, / to our Savior.
Verse: Song is due to You, O God, in Zion, and prayer will be given to You in Jerusalem.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 64), tone 6: Hear us, O God our Savior!
Verse: O God, a hymn is due to You in Zion, prayer will be offered to You in Jerusalem.
Reading parables. [Prov.11:19-31, 12:1-6]
The righteous son is born into life: but the persecution of the wicked leads to death. Depraved ways are an abomination to the Lord: please him in all your ways that are pure. Having put unrighteousness into your hand, the wicked will not be without torment: but he who sows righteousness will receive the reward back: Just as gold is planted in the nostrils of a pig, so the wife is more wicked babble. The desire of the righteous is all good: but the hope of the wicked will perish. The essence that sows its own, the multiplying create: the essence and the gathering alien, are diminished. Every simple thing is blessed for the soul: an ardent husband is unbecoming. he who withholds the wheat will leave it on his tongue: he who sells wheat sparingly will be cursed by the people, but the blessing of the Lord is on the head of him who gives. He who does good seeks the grace of good: but he who seeks evil will befall him. Trust in your wealth, this one will fall; stand up for the righteous, this one will rise. Do not look around your house, it will inherit the winds: the fool will serve the wise. From the fruit of righteousness the tree of life vegetates: the souls of the wicked are darkened untimely.
Even if the righteous are barely saved: where will the wicked and sinful appear? he who loves punishment loves feeling; he who hates reproof is foolish. It is better to have received grace from the Lord God: the lawbreaking husband will remain silent. Man cannot be reformed from the lawless; but the roots of the righteous will not be taken away. A courageous wife gives a crown to her husband: like a worm in a tree, so a malicious wife destroys a husband. Thoughts of the righteous destinies: the wickedness of flattery rules. The words of the wicked turn to blood; but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
Reading the book of Proverbs [11:19–31; 12:1–6]
The righteous son is born for life, but the desire of the wicked is for death. Corrupt ways are an abomination to the Lord, but all blameless paths are acceptable to Him. He who pledges unrighteously will not go unpunished by the evildoers, but he who sows righteousness will receive a sure reward. Like a gold ring in a pig's nose, beauty is in an evil wife. The desire of the righteous is all good, but the hope of the wicked will perish. Those who sow their own receive very much, but those who gather what belongs to others grow poor. Blessed is every faithful soul, but an angry man is not worthy. He who withholds bread will leave it to the people, but he who sells wheat sparingly is cursed by the people, but the blessing of the Lord is on the head of the one who distributes. He who does good seeks favor, and he who seeks evil will befall him. He who trusts in his own wealth will fall, but he who protects the righteous will shine. He who does not take care of his house will inherit the wind, and the foolish will be the slave of the wise. From the fruit of righteousness the tree of life grows, but the souls of the wicked are taken away untimely. If the righteous man barely escapes, where will the wicked and the sinner end up?
He who loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is foolish. Better is the one who obtains favor from the Lord God, but the wicked man will be forgotten. A person will not be happy because of lawlessness, but the roots of the righteous will not be pulled out. A virtuous wife is a crown for her husband, but a wife who acts badly destroys her husband like a worm destroys a tree. The thoughts of the righteous are about just judgment, but the wicked are directed into a trap. The words of the wicked are an ambush for shedding blood, but the lips of the righteous will save them.
