Grant me, O Lord, Thy flesh according to Thy will; and a fiery one that consumes the unworthy: let it not consume me, my helper. Rather go into my fastings, into all my compositions, into my belly, into my heart. Pierce thou with thorns all my sins. Purify my soul, cleanse my thoughts. Harden my compositions with bones together. Enlighten me with a simple five-fingered hand. With the greatest fear, cover me; keep and preserve me from every work and word of the fleshly life. Purify, wash, and adorn me: make me good, wise, and enlighten me. Show me Thy one sun alone, and not another sun of sin. That I may enter into Thy house by the entrance of the Eucharist, as the fire flees all sweetness, all passions. Monks offer to Thee all saints, the chief of the bodiless ones, wise apostles, with their unblemished reading: receive my supplications, O most merciful, and make me a servant of Thy light. For Thou art the Incarnation, and the only Light of our souls; and to Thee we send forth glory, honor, and worship all day long.
