Grant me, O Lord, Thy flesh according to Thy will; and let not the fire that burneth unworthily fall upon me, my helper: rather go into my afflictions, into all my compositions, into my belly, into my heart. Pierce thou with thorns all my sins. Purify my soul, cleanse my thoughts. Firmly set my compositions with bones together. Enlighten me with the simple flame of the five wicks. With fear of Thy dread I am fastened to Thee. Ever cover me, keep me, and preserve me from every work and word of the flesh: cleanse me, and wash me, and adorn me: accept me, enlighten me, and make me a son of light. For as Thou art the dwelling-place, so let my entrance be into Thy house; for as the fire fleeth from me, all sweetness and all passions flee. The monks offer to Thee all their services, and the incorporeal powers with their wise fathers, by Thy pure reading: accept their prayers, O merciful, and make thy servant a son of light. For Thou art the effulgence, and the only brightness of our souls; and to Thee we send forth glory, honour, and worship, at all times. Amen.
