Grant me, O Lord, Thy flesh according to Thy will; and let not the fire that burneth unworthily fall upon me, my helper: rather go into my sorrows, into all my compositions, into my belly, into my heart. Let the thorns of all my transgressions pierce thee. Purify my soul, cleanse my thoughts. Harden thy compositions with bones together. Enlighten me with a simple five-fingered hand. With fear of Thy terror wholly encompass me. Ever cover me, keep me, and preserve me from every work and word of the fleshly life. Cleanse me, wash me, adorn me: accept me, enlighten me, and make me thy servant, O Son of God. For thou art the light, and the one brightness of our souls; and to thee we send forth all our hymns, wise apostles, and thy undefiled mother with her holy writings: receive my supplications, O most merciful, and make me a son of Thy light, thy servant. For thou art the effulgence, like God and the Master of glory, to whom with the Holy Spirit we send forth all our praises every day.
