For those who intend to thoroughly understand the texts of prayers, it is advisable to have the following books:
Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments (any publication of the Moscow Patriarchate). Every home needs at least a New Testament (note: on the first pages, even before the text, there must be a note stating that this is the New Testament in the Synodal translation, or that the book is being printed from the Synodal edition or the publication of the Moscow Patriarchate! New translations, which are often distributed by Protestant preachers, are completely unacceptable).
A lengthy Christian catechism of the Orthodox Catholic Eastern Church, compiled by St. Philaret (Drozdov), Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna.
