Like sending an unflattering flame to the world, delivering away the depths of sins: we sing with joy to Him who strengthened you, like His apostles.
Because, as reliable and guiding lights, you were sent for deliverance from the depths of sin into the world; we sing in joy to Him who strengthened you, His Apostles.

For I have fooled you into the world, Christ of old, like the salt, sent wisdom, admonishing him to His knowledge, we truly praise.
Since in a world that has become foolish and has lost its taste like salt, Christ sent you first, the wise ones, for instruction in the knowledge of Him, we praise you with faith.

As I am overcome by many sins, I fall down with tears to You Christ, asking for forgiveness and grace to give me time during Lent.
Since I am surrounded by many serious sins, I fall in tears before You, Christ, asking for forgiveness; let me make a good start during fasting!

As I am bound by indecipherable chains of my passions, I groan and cry out to You, the Savior: set me free, for I may sing with joy Your compassion.
Since I am hopelessly bound by the chains of my passions, I groan, Savior, and cry out to You: “Give me liberation too, so that in great joy I may sing Your kindness!”

Glory: I cry to the Lord with the voice of the prodigal: Father, I have sinned, save generously, and let not Thy glory excommunicate me.
With the words of the prodigal, I exclaim to You, Lord: “Father, I have sinned! Save and have pity on [me]: do not separate me from Your glory!

Theotokos: In Thy womb, Who reviled God as man, and who poured out life into the world, We sing praises to Thee, O All-Holy Virgin.
Theotokos: In your womb you bore God, as if you were a mortal, and poured out life into the world. We praise you, All-Holy Virgin!

In the verse we sing the day itself, voice 3:
The dawn of abstinence is a beauty that drives away the darkness of demons: the bliss of Lenten has come, bringing healing to spiritual passions. Sometimes Daniel did this, and in Babylon the children of the fence curbed the mouth of the lions, and quenched the fire of the furnace. Along with him, save us too, Christ God, as the Lover of Mankind.
In the poem we sing the samoglashen of the day, tone 3:
The beauty of abstinence shone forth, driving out the demonic darkness; the modesty of fasting appeared, bringing healing from spiritual passions; Once strengthened by fasting, Daniel and the young men in Babylon, one escaped the mouths of lions, * others extinguished the flame of the furnace. Thanks to him, save us too, O Christ God, together with them as the Lover of Mankind!
*literally: curbed the mouth

And we repeat this, with the verse: We will be fulfilled in the morning:
And we repeat it with the verse: Early in the morning we were filled with Your mercy, O Lord, and we rejoiced and were glad. All our days we have rejoiced: for the days in which You humbled us, for the years in which we saw evil. And look upon Thy servants and Thy creatures, / and show the way to their sons. (Ps 89:14–16)

Also, verse: And be your lordship:
And martyrned: Like the lights you shine in the world, and after the death of the holy martyr, you accomplished a good deed. If you have boldness, beg Christ to have mercy on our souls.
Then the verse: And may the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us, and may the work of our hands be corrected among us, / and may the work of our hands be corrected. (Ps 89:17)
And martyred: Like lights in the world, you shine even after death, holy martyrs! Having accomplished a wonderful feat, you have the courage: pray to Christ to be merciful to our souls!

Glory, even now, to the Mother of God: In wives, the Holy Mother of God, Brideless Mother, pray to Him who gave birth to the King and God, that He may save us as the Lover of Mankind.
