It behooves one to know, as from this day of the great week of Pascha, even until Thursday, at hours and vespers thus they sing.

In His Name, and in Thy, and in the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, hear my prayer, for Thy mercy's sake; O venerable and Theotokos-blessed fathers and mothers of ours, and all holy ones, have mercy on us. Amen.

Jesus Christ is risen from the dead, by death He hath trampled death, and to the living He hath given life in the tombs. [Three times.]

Glásъ sě.

Thy mercy, O Lord, is in every place;
and reacheth to the heavens.

With this, the voice of the Gospel:

Before the dawn of that morning concerning Mary, and having found a stone rolled from the tomb, they heard an angel say: In the light of the present, seek not among the dead what you are looking for as though of a man; behold the linen cloths, go forth, and preach peace, for He has risen, the Dead One, for He is the Son of God, saving the race of mankind. [Alone.]

When thou didst descend into the waters,
O Christ God,
and didst tread upon him that had power over all,
then didst thou destroy death by thy Cross,
for it was fitting for thee to be greater than he in might.

For in truth, O Lord,
thou art greater and more powerful than all.
Thou didst not suffer thyself to be held by the bonds of death;
but didst loose those who were bound therewith.

Therefore, with thine almighty right hand
didst thou smite the head of him that held the hosts in captivity,
and didst set free them that were in prison.
Thou hast overcome death by thy Cross,
O Saviour of the world.

If thou didst descend into the grave, O Immortal One, Thou didst destroy the power of hell with Thy might, and didst rise again as Victor, O Saviour, who wast foretelling to the myrrh-bearing women: Rejoice! And by Thy Apostles Thou gavest peace, and to them that fell, Thou gavest the resurrection. [Eidinoshestvo.]

In the grave by bodily death, in hell with the soul of God, in paradise with the robber, and on the cross thou wast, O Saviour, with thy Father and Spirit, fulfilling that which was not written.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O Sustainer of life, O most beautiful in color, truly and indeed thou didst show the glory of every royal image most radiant, O Grave, fount of our Resurrection, Jesus Christ.

And now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O High and Glorious Theotokos, rejoice. By thee hath joy been given, O Lady, to them that cry: Blessed art thou among women, immaculate Lady.

And also, Lord, have mercy. [Thou]

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Father, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God's glory, O Theotokos, that gave birth thereto, being ever present in thee.

With prayers let the Venerable Father of ours, Jesus Christ our God, beseech Thee, O Theotokos, have mercy on us. Amen.

And again we say: Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life. [Three times.]

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Father, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, hear our prayer, the prayer of Thy handmaids and of all Thy creatures, and have mercy on us. Amen.
