Having risen from Succoth, the children of Israel camped at Othom near the wilderness. And God led them during the day in a pillar of cloud, showing them the way, and at night - in a pillar of fire. The pillar of cloud did not go away by day and the pillar of fire by night and was in the face of all the people. And the Lord said these words to Moses: “Speak to the children of Israel, and, turning back, let them camp opposite the village between Magdol and the sea, opposite Beelsephon: camp in sight of them near the sea. And Pharaoh will say to his people: “The children of Israel are wandering in the land, for the desert has blocked their way.” But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will persecute them; and I will be glorified because of Pharaoh and all his army, and all the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” And they did so. And they informed the king of the Egyptians that the people had fled, and the feeling of Pharaoh and his servants towards the people changed, and they said: “What have we done, why have we freed the children of Israel from serving us?” And so, Pharaoh harnessed his chariots and led all his people with him, and took six hundred of the best chariots, and all the cavalry of the Egyptians and the commanders over them all.

And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; and the children of Israel went away, being in the hand of the highest. And the Egyptians chased after them and found them all the cavalry, and the chariots of Pharaoh, and the army, and the horsemen, located by the sea, opposite the settlement of Beelsephon. And Pharaoh advanced, and the children of Israel looked and saw that the Egyptians were behind them, and they were very afraid. And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord and said to Moses: “Because there are no graves in Egypt, have you brought us out to put us to death in the wilderness? What did you do to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we tell you: “Leave us to be slaves of the Egyptians?” For it was better for us to be enslaved by the Egyptians than to die in this desert.” Moses said to the people: “Be bold, stand firm, look to the salvation from the Lord, which He will bring to us today. For as you see the Egyptians today, you will not see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you will remain silent.” The Lord said to Moses: “Why are you calling on Me? Tell the children of Israel: let them leave the camp.

Lift up your staff and stretch out your hand to the sea and divide it, and let the children of Israel enter into the middle of the sea on dry ground. And behold, I will make the heart of Pharaoh and his servants and all the Egyptians hard, and they will come in after you; and I will be glorified because of Pharaoh, and all his army, and his chariots and horsemen. And all the Egyptians will know that I am God, when I am glorified because of Pharaoh and his chariots and all his horsemen.” And the angel who preceded the line of the children of Israel rose up and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud also rose up from their face and stood behind them. And he entered between the ranks of the Egyptians and between the ranks of Israel, and darkness and darkness fell, and night came, and all night they did not approach each other. Moses stretched out his hand to the sea, and the Lord diverted the sea with a strong south wind all night and made the sea dry, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel entered into the midst of the sea on dry ground, and the water was for them a wall on the right and a wall on the left. The Egyptians gave chase and followed them into the middle of the sea - all the Pharaoh's cavalry, chariots and horsemen.

And it came to pass in the morning watch: the Lord looked upon the line of the Egyptians in a pillar of fire and cloud, and threw the line of the Egyptians into confusion, and tied the axles of their chariots, and they led them with difficulty. And the Egyptians said: “We are fleeing from the presence of Israel, for for their sake the Lord is fighting with the Egyptians.” The Lord said to Moses: “Stretch out your hand to the sea and set it in motion, and let the water return to the chariots and horsemen and cover the Egyptians.” And Moses stretched out his hand to the sea, and the water returned to its place at the beginning of the day; and the Egyptians ran under the water, and the Lord overturned the Egyptians in the middle of the sea. And the water returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen and all the army of Pharaoh that entered the sea after the children of Israel: not one of them remained. But the children of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea: the water was a wall to them on the right and a wall on the left. And the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the dead Egyptians along the seashore. And Israel saw what the Lord had done to the Egyptians with His mighty hand; and the people experienced the fear of the Lord and believed God and His servant Moses.

Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the Lord and said:

The reader says: Let us sing to the Lord:

Face, voice 5: Gloriously you are glorified.

The royal gates open.

The reader speaks verses to each face, and they sing to both faces: Gloriously, thou art glorified.
