Genesis reading. [Gen.27:1–41]

It came to pass that Isaac became old, and his eyes became dull even as he saw them: and he called Esau, his eldest son, and said to him: my son. and speech: se az. And Isaac said: Behold, I am old, and I do not know the day of my end. Now take your weapon, including your bow, and go out into the field and catch your fish: And make food with me, as I love: and bring it with me, yes yam, as let my soul bless you my, before I even die. Rebekah heard Isaac saying to his son Esau, “Now Esau went out into the field to catch a catch for his father.” And Rebekah said to Jacob her youngest son: Behold, I heard thy father speaking to thy brother Esau, saying: Bring me a catch, and make food for me, yes I will bless you before the Lord before I die. Now, my son, listen to me as I command you.

And when you go among the sheep, give me from there two goats that are soft and good, and I will create food for your father, as he loves: And you will bring it to your father, and there will be food, for he bless your father, before he even dies. Jacob spoke to his mother Rebekah: My brother Esau is a coarse man, but he is a smooth man: Let not my father touch me, and I will be before him as despise, and I will bring upon myself an oath, not a blessing. His mother said to him: Your oath is upon me, child: then listen to my voice, and bring it to me. Take the shad and bring it to his mother, and make food for his mother, as his father loved him. And Rebekah took the good garment of Esau, her oldest son, that was in her house, and clothed Jacob her youngest son with it. And cover his muscles with goat skins and his naked neck. And he gave the food and bread that he had made in the hand of Jacob to his son. And he brought it to his father, and said: Father. he also says: behold. Who are you, child?

And Jacob said to his father: I am Esau, thy firstborn, who hath done as thou didst say to me: rise, sit, and eat of my catch, for thy soul bless me. Isaac said to his son: What is this that you have soon found, O child? he also said: even the Lord thy God will be before me. Isaac said to Jacob: Come near to me, and I will touch you, son, if you are my son Esau, or not? Jacob approached his father Isaac, and touched him, and said: a voice, a voice of Jacob: the hand, the hand of Esau. And I did not know him, for his hand was shaggy, like the hand of his brother Esau: and bless him. And he said: Are you my son Esau? aka speech: az. And he said: Bring me, and I will eat from your catch, son, may my soul bless you. and bring him some poison; and bring him wine and drink. And Isaac his father said to him: Come close to me and kiss the child’s flesh. And I approached him with my forehead: and I smelled the stench of his robe, and blessed him, and said: Behold the stench of my son, for the stench of the fields are full, even so bless the Lord.

And may God give you from the dew of heaven, and from the fatness of the earth, and an abundance of wheat and wine: And let the nations serve you, and let the princes worship you, and be a lord to your brother, and The sons of your father will worship you: curse you, cursed; bless you, blessed. And it came to pass that Isaac had ceased blessing Jacob his son: and it came to pass that Jacob went out from the presence of Isaac his father, and Esau his brother came from the hunt. Make that food and bring it to your father, and say to your father: Let my father arise, and let him eat from his son’s catch, for let your soul bless me. And Isaac his father said to him: Who are you? he also said: I am your firstborn son Esau. Isaac was greatly horrified with great horror, and said: Who is the one who caught my catch and brought it to me, and took the poison from everyone before it came to you? and bless him, and he shall be blessed. When Esau heard the words of his father Isaac, he cried out with a great and bitter voice and said: Bless me too, Father.

He said to him: Your brother came with flattery, taking your blessing. And [Esau] said righteously that his name was called Jacob: for I have taken this second place, and have taken my precedence, and now have taken my blessing. And Esau said to his father: Have you not left me a blessing, father? Isaac answered and said to Esau: If I have made his master for you, and made all his brethren his servants, I have sustained him with wheat and wine: what will I do to you, child? Esau said to his father: is food the only blessing you have, father? Bless me too, father. When Isaac was touched, Esau cried out with a great voice and wept. And Isaac his father answered and said to him: Behold, from the fatness of the earth shall thy dwelling be, and from the dew of heaven from above: And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother: it shall be [time] when you will cast it down and cut it off with a yoke from your neck. And Esau was enmity with Jacob about the blessing, which his father blessed him with.
