Raise your mind to the Lord crucified for us and cry out to Him from the depths of your soul:

1. Jesus my Lord! My sweetest Jesus! Hasten to help me and do not let my enemy overwhelm me!

2. At the same time, mentally and sensually, if you are nearby, embrace the life-giving cross on which your Lord was crucified for you, often kiss His wounds and say to them with love:

The reddest ulcers, the most holy ulcers, the most pure ulcers! Puncture this accursed and unclean heart of mine and do not allow me to shame and insult you with my uncleanness.

Free me, my Creator and Deliverer, from these enemies of mine, for the glory of Your passion and Your ineffable goodness.

3. When you feel that you are carried away by someone’s beauty, bring to mind that under this attractiveness lies an underworld serpent, ready to kill you or at least injure you, and tell him: Ah, damned serpent! It is you who are standing here as a thief, looking to swallow me! Labor in vain, for the Lord is my helper. Then, turning to God, say:

Blessed are You, my God, who revealed my hidden enemy before me and did not let me be caught by his teeth (Ps. 123:6).”

And then take refuge, as in some kind of saving refuge, in the wounds of Him who was crucified for us, devoting yourself to them, with the thought of how much our Lord endured in His most holy flesh, in order to save you from sin and instill in you an aversion to carnal passions.
