By Thy own Creature, O Darkening Sun and Light of the Resurrection, having enlightened all creation with the light of Thy rising, receive our evening song, O Lover of Mankind.
Thy uplifted Life-giving ascent, O Lord, enlighten all the inhabited world, and Thy creation, having been consumed with fire, is called to witness. Therefore, Adam's curses are changed; we cry out: All-powerful Lord, glory be to Thee.
God Thy Son, unchangeable, though in body Thou didst suffer change, not enduring to behold Thee hanging on the Cross, we bow in fear and cry out Thy long-suffering: Having gone down into hell, Thou rose again on the third day, giving life to the world, and didst command the abyss.
Let our death from the hand of death thou deliver, O Thou who hast endured death: for three days didst Thou rise from the dead, and with Thyself didst raise up those who knew Thee; and Thou didst enlighten the world. Glory be to Thee.
The Theotokos:
Without seed from the Holy Spirit, by the will of the flesh thou didst conceive and bring forth a Son, from the Father before the ages: for us also, though without the Father, thou didst bear in the flesh and didst nurse with thy milk. Therefore cease not to pray, that our souls may be delivered from tribulations.
