Resurrection of Thy Theotokos, Light-giver to all the earth and Thou hast called Thy creation: omnipotent be Thy glory.

Ever didst Thou, O Christ our God, by the tree of death bury Thyself in the Tree of Life; Thou didst enlighten us by Thy rising from the dead and by Thine exaltation of our race through Thy resurrection. Therefore we cry to Thee: "O Life-giving Christ of ours, glory be to Thee."

At thy conception, O Virgin, the Lord was fastened, and changed thy purity of body: and without man's knowledge, warriors showed thee to be slain, with their spears piercing thy ribs; while the Jews sealed the tomb, knowing not thy power. But for thy womb, thou didst receive burial on the morrow, and after three days, O Lord, Thou rose again, giving glory unto Thee.

O Giver of Life, God, by Thy will enduring the death of men, and having descended below into hell with mighty power, there to await the coming of Thine own, Thou didst take from the strong bonds of death and gave life in place of death. Therefore, glorifying Thy three-day resurrection, cleanse our sins and grant us great mercy.

O wonder of wonders among all ancient wonders! Who can know the Mother born without a Man, bearing on her hand, containing the whole creation; she is indeed the Willing One, born by her own choice. When the Lord read her will, thy hands carrying it, and her boldness daring to approach Him, cease not praying for those who invoke thee, that thou mayest still lift up our souls.
