Thou, O Jesus Christ, hast risen from the dead, enlightening all the world and calling unto Thee Thy creation: most mighty is Thy glory, Thee be glorified.
By the Tree of Life thou didst make void,
unto which was joined the tree of cursing,
by thy death thou didst bury the power of death in thy death itself;
thou didst slay by thy death,
and by thy rising thou didst enlighten our race with thy resurrection.
Therefore we cry to thee: O Giver of Life, Theotokos, glory be to thee.
At thy conception, O Virgin, the Lord was fastened, and changed thy purity of body: and without man's knowledge, warriors showed thee to be slain, with spears piercing thy ribs, while the Jews sought to seal thy tomb, knowing not thy power. But for thy womb, thou didst receive burial on the morrow, and after three days, O Lord, Thou arosest, granting Thee glory.
O Giver of Life, God, by Thy will enduring the death of men, and having descended into hell with mighty power, there to await the coming of Thy Kingdom with a strong key, Thou hast given the realm of paradise instead of hell as a gift for ever. Therefore, glorifying Thy three-day resurrection, cleanse our sins and grant us great mercy.
O wonder of wonders among all ancient wonders! Who can know the Mother born without a Man, bearing on her hand, containing the whole creation? She is the Willingness, born again. When the Lord read it, thy hands bearing it, and the Mother's boldness having approached Him, do not cease praying for them, that He may yet exalt our souls.
