All-holy Trinity, God and Helper of all the world, hasten and direct my heart, to begin with understanding and to end with good works inspired by Thy Holy Scriptures, where steadfast are the fiery twapons which now I wish to speak as unworthy: understand.

Thou Who knowest my own ignorance, I now beseech Thee with prayer, and ask of Thee help: Lord, direct us, and strengthen our heart; not that we may strive to speak ceaselessly, but that by understanding what is spoken we may rejoice, and prepare ourselves for the doing of good works. Teach us, and I say:

May we be enlightened by good works, partakers of righteous judgments on the tribunals, thy servants. And now, Blessed Lady, bless me that having exhorted from my heart, I may sing with my tongue, saying thus:

Come, let us bow down in worship to our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King, our God, and before Jesus Christ our Lord.

Therefore, let us stand thus steadfastly, until all the senses are quenched: then let us begin to do good not quickly, without laziness, with compunction of heart and humbled spirit. Say this: Blessed is the man: quiet and wise, with attention, and not hasty, as though to understand by his own reason the words spoken.
