All-compassing Spirit, God and helper of all the world, hasten and direct my heart to begin with understanding and end with good works inspired by Thy holy books; where steadfast are the fiery twofold tongues, and now I, unworthy, desire to speak: understand.

Thou Who art my Teacher and Guide, I now confess my own ignorance and humbly beseech Thee for Thy help. Lord, correct me and strengthen my heart; not by the voice of harsh rebuke, but by the understanding of what is spoken, let us find joy and prepare ourselves for the doing of good deeds. Teach me, and I say:

May we be made partakers of good works, on the judgment seats receiving thy mercies, O Lord, with all thy chosen ones. And now, blessed art thou, let us breathe forth from our hearts and with our tongues sing, saying thusly:

Come, let us bow down in worship to our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King, our Jesus Christ, and before God our Father.

Therefore, let him stand thus little, until all the senses are quelled: then let him begin to make his beginning not quickly, without laziness, with compunction of heart and humbled spirit. Say this: Blessed is the man: quiet and wise, with attention, and not hasty, as though he were understanding by himself.
