All-holy Trinity, God and Helper of all the world, hasten and direct my heart, to begin with understanding and to end with good works inspired by Thy Holy Scriptures, which steadfastly burn within me, and now I, unworthy, desire to speak: understanding.

Thou Who knowest my own ignorance, I now beseech Thee with prayer, and ask of Thee help: Lord, direct me and strengthen my heart, not that I may strive to speak with strength, but that by understanding the words spoken, I may rejoice and prepare myself for the doing of good deeds. Teach me, and I say:

May we be enlightened by good works, partakers of righteous judgments on the tribunals, and inherit with all thy chosen ones. And now, Blessed Lady, having exhorted from the heart, I will sing with my tongue, saying thus:

Come, let us bow down in worship to our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King our God.

Come, let us bow down and prostrate ourselves before the King, our Jesus Christ, and before God our Father.

Therefore, let him stand thus little, until all the senses are quenched: then let him begin to do this not quickly, without laziness, with compunction of heart and humbled spirit. Say this: Blessed is the man: quiet and wise, with attention, and not hasty, as though to understand by his own understanding the words spoken.
